Sussex Staff 2007-08

Sussex Girls' Rugby will be run by the following people this season:

Coaches

Matt Kemp, Head Coach U15 and U18 Girls

Matt has extensive coaching experience in the women's and girls' game over a 12-year period. He has coached at a variety of levels in the club game, most recently in the Premiership (England's top Women's league) at Henley Hawks and latterly Wasps as well at at U17 and senior Regional level and Performance Development Academy/High Performance Academy and England U20 trials. Matt has led the Sussex Girls' coaching team for two seasons.

Candy Prince, U15 Lead Coach

Candy played rugby at University and has been involved with Sussex Girls' Rugby for several seasons. Last season she co-led the U17 squad. She has coached at U15 Regional level and is heavily involved in girls' rugby at the school at which she teaches.

Bill Coleman, U15 Assistant Coach

Bill has been involved in Sussex Girls' Rugby since it's inception. He currently plays and coaches men's rugby in the Sussex leagues. Bill's eldest daughter is a member of the U18 squad.

Anthony Beckett, U15 Assistant Coach

Anthony has been involved in Sussex Girls' Rugby for several seasons, assisting with the U14/U15 age group. His daughter is a rugby player (now at senior level). Anthony is also Chair of Women's and Girls' Ruby in Sussex and Lead Coach of the South Sussex Barbarians.

Hayley Kemp, U18 Lead Coach

Hayley has coached Sussex Girls' Rugby for two seasons; last season she led the U14 age group, this season she leads the U18 age group. Hayley was capped 8 times at scrum half by Wales 'A' so brings huge experience of top-level women's rugby to her coaching.

Steve 'Granny' Grantham, U18 Assistant Coach

Granny comes on board with Sussex Girls' Rugby for the first time this season following several seasons as a spectator watching his daughter go through the ranks. Granny still plays every Saturday and coaches extensively at Crawley RFC. He has coached at Regional level.

Don Simmons, U18 Assistant Coach

Don has been involved in Sussex Girls' Rugby since it's inception. He coaches at Worthing and plans to dust off his (ancient) boots and play Vet's rugby again. Don's daughter is a member of the U18 squad.

Managers and Physio

Claire Byrne, U15 Manager

Claire came on board as a manager for the first time this season. Her daughter is a member of the U15 squad.

Debbie Hale, U18 Manager

Debbie took on the U18 manager's role this season having successfully done so at the Worthing club. Her daughter is a member of the U15 squad.

Shelly Thouless

Shelly became Sussex Girls' physiotherapist this season. Her help has been invaluable. She also physios for Brighton RFC.
